THOSE WALLS! {living room update}

Our new laminate wood floors for the living room, kitchen, hallway and master bedroom have arrived! As we prepare the living room for this weekend's install, I thought we could take a look at what we've accomplished so far. Remember this plan?

Always paint swatches on the walls before committing to buying a gallon. I was convinced in the store that the two lighter shades of gray were exactly what I was looking for, but as soon as I applied them to the wall I realized they were too light, in fact they looked blue on my walls.

Keep the colors on your walls for a few days to see how they look as the light in your room changes.

What we thought would be an easy wallpaper removal, quickly turned into quite the project after discovering the first layer wasn't the only one that had to come off.

The wall was in pretty rough condition after removing the third layer of wallpaper, but we were able to patch it up and now you would never know it once looked this bad.

Even before seeing the house in person I said that if we bought this house, that dividing wall is coming down immediately...and immediately it did!

Removing the wall instantly opened up both the kitchen and living room making the rooms feel bigger.

We finally settled on the perfect gray, Stone Harbor by Benjamin Moore, to compliment the freshly painted Chantilly White brick, also Benjamin Moore. This gray has brown undertones whereas the fist few samples had blue undertones.

The gray walls will continue throughout the living room, kitchen and hallway, and with the addition of the floors, we will be ready to move in the rest of our furniture...I can't wait to decorate {I miss my wall art}.

The floor update will follow after this coming weekend. In the meantime, I have a little mudroom project to work on.
