I know we have quite a few home projects going on at the moment, but it's time we paid attention to the guest bedroom {aka my closet}. We recently scored this 1950's pine bed frame from an estate sale for only $50! The guest bedroom is small, so this double bed will be the perfect fit. Throughout the house we have an eclectic mix of styles, but for this room I have a very specific idea in mind that I'd like to call "masculine Hollywood glam". The bed frame, dresser and a side table will all be painted a glossy black, large painted stripes in warm shades of taupe will wrap the room, vintage framed prints will hang on the walls and leather, wood and gold accessories will add the finishing touches. I'll design a "mock-up" soon!

For now we are starting with the bed frame. After taking advantage of yesterday's Spring-like weather and giving it a good sanding, it's now ready for the first coat of paint. It should be an easy transformation unlike the 3 layers of wallpaper we have to remove!!!

I kind of love the bed skirt curtain rod...I may have to make that work.

Although a bright color would also look great on the bed, black is an easy color to work around. Even if I grow out of my "masculine Hollywood glam" room, there is so much I can do to change the feel of the space by switching out the art, bedding and accessories. Here are a few black bed frames for inspiration...
