I discovered this beauty on the side of the road last Sunday on my way home from running errands. It needs work, but I couldn't pass it up.
Now I just have to learn how to fix springs...
Reattach the back...
And replace leather buttons.
I also purchased this ottoman from an estate sale a few days earlier for only $10.
This will be a bit easier to reupholster. Please excuse Mr. Miguel who thought he could sneak out of the garage without me noticing.
Should I reupholster both the chair and ottoman to match? They seem to be a nice fit. I could always get new feet for the ottoman so it's a better match.
Oh...and I bought this basket for 87 cents at Goodwill and "did the dip" technique to it. I can't remember the last time I bought something for under a dollar!
There were quite a few tag sales the last two weekends. Did anyone else score any furniture?

I too am a furniture hoarder!
ReplyDeleteI will love to see how the black chair and ottoman turn out. I am also writing a post on decorating in black and white for a Canadian blog. Could I use your dip dyed basket pic and link to you?
Lmk,
Hilary
Hi Hilary/fellow furniture hoarder!
DeleteI'm thinking of tackling the ottoman this week, but that chair is definitely a bit more intimidating.
I'd be honored if you used my dip dyed basket image and I look forward to reading your post!

Wow, I bought the same basket at a church sale in a faded mauve color. I painted it blue and then changed my mind, so now it is the exact color of yours! Minus the bottom, I love the bottom on yours!
ReplyDeleteIt's great being able to reuse and re-purpose inexpensive items like this! I love adding these small found treasures to my home. Thanks for reading :)
