GILDED DINOSAURS {and more}

I've spray painted many accessories in my day, and my pink dinosaurs have been a big hit with young visitors. While I still love the hot pink prehistoric creatures that hold down the fort on the mantel, I may be on the lookout for a few more to add to the collection...this time trying the gilded approach {again}. I was unsuccessful with a few gold animals a couple years ago {here} where the paint never fully dried on the rubber toys. Goodwill here I come!

Depending on what I can find at the thrift stores, my hot pink dinosaurs may be getting a makeover...stay tuned.

NEON SIGNS

Yea or Nay?

I say yea and I'm currently working on convincing my other half that it would be
FAB-U-LOUS!...
depending on the price tag of course.

{modern cottage} KITCHEN OF THE WEEK

This kitchen has me wanting to set up camp in a nearby forest to be surrounded by all of mother nature's little woodland friends. Alright...maybe that's a stretch, but isn't this space adorable? I love the gray, white and natural wood color palette with the bold accent of the black range hood. And HELLO...I'm loving the old-school phone receiver for the iPhone!

MY CROSSING GUARD THERAPIST

I live right around the corner from an elementary school, and each morning on my way to work, traffic slows down to 20 mph to pass the school grounds. On the corner of the crosswalk is a smiling crossing guard waving at every car that passes. The first few times she waved to me I thought she must have mistaken me for someone else, so I gave her a quick wave back until I realized how ridiculous it was to think that someone would only wave if they knew me. How about waving just to be kind? I started to pay more attention to her as I drove by, slowing down even more to get a closer look. Her smile was genuine and I soon began to look forward to these two second interactions with a complete stranger each morning. To me, she is a reminder that life doesn't have to be so stressful. That what I do for work, I do because it makes me happy...but there are those mornings when I wake up to the stress of knowing how much I have to accomplish in a day. You know, those days that are powered by pure adrenaline, sometimes forgetting to come up for air? MY crossing guard is helping me realize to take a deep breath, slow down and accomplish what I can, knowing I've tried my best.

MASTER BEDROOM UPDATE

Each room in our house is definitely a work in progress, but we are starting to slow down with the projects {for now anyway}. The master bedroom, although not finished, is a room I'm completely content with at the moment. The decor is simple, the morning light is perfect, and it's now free of unnecessary noise, aka the TV. It's hard to believe this bright and peaceful space once looked like THIS.

DELICIOUSLY SOFT...

...blankets and pillows make it impossible to get out of bed in the morning. That's why I'm still in mine.
