OFFICE INSPIRATION

We're gearing up to start our home office space, so I thought I'd share some inspiring office images. My goal is to create an organized space that's easy to maintain. This room should be free of clutter and distractions...basically the exact opposite of what we have now.

I wasn't planning to show you our current office space, but then I thought that isn't really fair. It's basically a room/hallway that leads to our 4 season porch, so it only has two usable walls. Right now it's filled with laundry, winter coats, sleeping bags, the vacuum, art supplies, picture frames, etc...
I hope to show you something fabulous someday soon!

PS. Remember our Goodwill desk {here}? We've decided on a color, but it's a surprise.

{mix and match) OUTDOOR DINING

In anticipation of our deck being built, we quickly ran out to buy some new outdoor furniture from Ikea {I say quickly, but this is actually an all-day event}. We eneded purchasing two chairs and a drop-leaf table from the Applaro collection. Like the rest of our house, we want our deck to be an eclectic mix of practical store-bought items as well as vintage finds and DIYs.

The turquoise and black chair was one I found on the side of the road last weekend. A little sanding, new fabric and a coat of paint transformed this chair instantly. However, it'a already going through another makeover after realizing the black panel was a little intense for it's delicate features. Stay tuned for the next reveal.

HAVEIL TILE {new at ann sacks}

I'm kind of freaking out over these new tiles by Neisha Crosland for Ann Sacks. I want them all...better yet, I want to design a fabulous space for one of you using these colorful, Native American inspired, hand-painted pieces of art.

OUR YARD {part one}

I consider myself a city-girl at heart, but when I wake up to this adorable yard in the morning, I'm thankful to have a private space to sip my coffee, read a book or just sit in silence watching my animals bask in the sun.

I'm even getting used to the fact that we have three sheds in the back yard...yes, three!...but they are there to make up for the lack of a basement.

This is the exterior of what we call "the porch". Right now the interior is a disaster of miscellaneous furniture and tools, but eventually this will be a dining room with an extra seating area around a {hopefully new} gas stove. Needless to say the exterior of this space was begging for a makeover...

So we started painting and it instantly transformed the feel of our yard.

The next step to making our backyard more attractive involved professionals as this was not one of my little DIY projects.

Yesterday morning as I was leaving for work, I snapped a quick photo of our cement steps being removed, and 6 hours later I returned home to a new deck!

It's not quite finished as we still have to decide where we want a railing and steps, but for now it's completely functional and gorgeous! I may even start my day with a little yoga out here. More pictures soon to follow.

Quiz: How many times do my animals show up in these pictures?

{stainless & stone} KITCHEN OF THE WEEK

Could you have a kitchen made completely out of stainless steel? The trick is to incorporate natural finishes and textures to warm up this cool, sleek material. Rattan accessories, wood floors, natural stone and handwoven rugs would do just that. So do you think you could do it?
