{our house} THE MUDROOM

The smallest room in the house has taken us me the longest to spruce up {I'm the one that started and never wanted to finish}. Here's why...until we can someday replace the 1950's metal and plastic slatted window and door, I'll always feel like any effort to make this room a pleasant passageway into our home will be crushed by a weekly  turnover in insect rentals.

However, it hasn't stopped us from transforming this space from top to bottom and the process began one year ago! I know...pretty ridiculous, but I just couldn't get motivated.

Pretty "blah" if you ask me. I'm hoping this post will get me motivated to add the finishing touches this weekend. Stay tuned!

BOTTOM BUNK

During a family vacation at the Cape last week I slept in the bottom bed of a bunk bed. It was larger then normal and fairly comfortable, but there was still that fear of waking up in the middle of the night and forgetting there was a metal frame just a few feet above my head. Luckily I survived without any injuries, but it got me thinking about how much fun bunk beds were as a kid.

INTO THE DEEP {shades of fuchsia}

This home office/library had me at hello fuchsia! Besides the obvious bold color choice for the cabinets...the rug, the chandelier, the curtains and the artwork all play an important part in creating this stunning space. It's such an amazing twist on the old, traditional office filled with dark mahogany and leather wing-back chairs.  There's nothing I would change about this space and I want to move in NOW!

Oh, and this fuchsia color I can't get enough of...it's Mulberry 2075-20 by Benjamin Moore.
